2011 Cross Clinics - Aug 30, Sep 6, Sep 13

Instructors:  PVC members Chip Sovek, Jim Carlson, and Mike Edmonds are currently planning on providing their cross experience to this clinice.

Helpers:  Please volunteer to help out. We can always use help with setting up, taking down, and checking riders in/making sure all sign a waiver and pay.

Time:  The start time will be 7:00pm for the main clinic with the instructional session concluding by 8:00pm/8:30pm. Instructors will be available to help anyone one-on-one who asks for it.  Extra time up till 9:00pm is also available for free practice on the barriers or other course features we'll have set up.

Cost:  The Cross Clinic will be $2.00/per racer/per night, which is basically the amount of our Park Use Fee. Additionally, our PVC insurance policy covers Cross Clinic attendees. We're doing this to help the local racers, not to make money!

Location:  Wakefield Park, in the grassy areas between the ball fields that are behind the rest rooms.  We usually set up a sign-up table and do initial instruction between the big double ball field and the constantly-lit artificial turf field that is immediately behind the Rec Center.

Syllabus:  We will be covering all the basics plus a few advanced techniques, so this class is ideal for beginners or for someone brushing up.  We'll include bike characteristics (tires, tire pressure, cleats, etc) training drills to practice, starts, mounts, dismounts, barriers, run-ups, running with the bike, sand pits, off-camber course features, and whatever else people want to see and practice.  There will be a short course set up so that people can do practice laps to warm up and/or hot laps to get some race training in in addition to the instructional period.

Bikes to Bring:  A Cross bike is highly preferred and much more competitive in a race, but mountain bikes are also allowed, as long as they have no bar ends.
